•: For the most part, the Darkling, thanks to its powerful equipment, the Robo-sassin, whose stats are 1.5 times the highest stats of the players, or the Coliseum monsters, which includes an enemy called Comacho whose stats are double the highest of the players. They can be won with plenty of Deathblocks/Revivals and certain skills (like Soul Fire), though. •: The Goddess of Generosity. •: The Nitroglycerin cursed item will do this if it explodes (which it has a random chance to every time the holder gets hit). • /: Pretty much all of the hairstyles in the game.
•: Both the in-battle offensive magic and field magic contain this trio of elements (Scorch, Chill, and Zap for offensive magic, Magma, Ice, and Volt for field magic). In-battle magic also has wind (Gust). •: Risque the Bandit fits this to a tee, though his self-professed status as 'bandit extraordinaire' is called into question by his somewhat dubious success rate. •: The Ninja Class's stat growths give a large boost to AT and SP, meaning a player that becomes one will gain an increase in hitting power and evasion, but nothing that helps with actually taking damage if they get hit.
• Summary: The King of Dokapon has offered you his throne; all he asks for in return is that you dispose of an invading horde of thieving monsters. Trouble is - you're not the only one he asked. Not to mention, how many would actually stick around for the full 5 hours? If you have a Wii, get that version.
And against (human) players, the psychological aspect of it usually breaks those high-defense stalemates. •: The player-controlled characters are cute anime-looking heroes who defeat monsters by the dozens. •: Mostly subverted. It's possible for a player with the Monk class (or any other) to fight without weapons, but monks tend to get the greatest bonuses from. •: Do all of the king's and he'll receive a piece of inflammatory mail from an imp named Wallace. Not ready to put up with this, he tasks you with finding Wallace and teaching him a lesson, •: While the Ninja's field skill to use double items isn't particularly Ninja-like, nor is it flashy like some of the other field skills, it's an incredibly versatile skill that works well with the Ninja's large 12-slot item inventory. Being able to heal off status/lost health while still being able to use your spinner in the same turn is pretty useful.
•: A pretty straight example of one. Each job gains skills specific to their class, and has an innate passive field ability.
The story is that monsters have taken over the kingdom, which is losing the king money. The greedy loaf decides to hire adventurers (you) to fight the monsters and save the money/world. In exchange, you get to be the next king of Dokapon and have the right to marry his daughter (Princess Penny). The story isn't much, but there are plenty of fun (any annoying) characters throughout the game you'll meet that you'll grow to love or hate depending on how often they pick on you and how your interactions go with them.

•: Players will invoke this upon accepting the Darkling Class. •: One of the random weekly events. Any players who are not in the middle of a battle at the end of the week are called back to the castle and judged on their hairstyle. The winner gets a hefty cash prize. •: Kira is usually easygoing, but if you try to rob her, she becomes extremely sassy in a hurry. •: The three base classes. The Warrior is the strongest physically and randomly gets strength boosts, the Magician is the strongest magically and can dualcast field magic, and the Thief is the fastest (dodge bonus) and steals an item every time he passes by an opposing player.
The battle system plays out in style, with the attack option beating counter, the counter option beating strike, and the defend option resisting the attack option. Multiple magics and stat changes play out both in battle and on the game board, while class-specific skills increase with player's job level. [ ] Three starting jobs are available to the new adventurer (warrior, thief, and magician), and following a pattern of leveling, eleven character jobs and darkling (if someone hears the whisper of the dark revenge, usually the current last place player) are possible. The game is won by the player with the most money at the end. The winner gets to marry the king's daughter if the player is male; the king makes an offer himself if the player is female, but will be rejected.
After the death of his father. •: Some events can force players into debt. •: There are several ways that a piece of equipment can be broken. Numerous enemy skills (like Waterfall and Thunder) have a small chance of this, the Rust spell, from dying ( especially to the Darkling). Basically whatever color your character is. • Wandering blacksmith Gutz and bandit Risque.
The 'IV' in the first game refers to the fact that up to 4 players can play. •: The drink items that temporarily boost a particular stat when consumed appear to be named after real-life soft drinks. Invigorade is likely based on (or ), Stl-Bru on, Jesta on, and Phyoose on. •: In the form of several, ranging from tracking down a certain local food the king has a sudden hankering for to what is essentially gathering puppy porn for the princess's dog. The main way to get the big bucks is to take over towns on the map, which are another type of space you can land on. All the towns are initially guarded by a monster. You defeat this monster, and the town is yours. You can then invest money into the town, raising it’s town level and income generation. If you invest enough money into towns, they eventually start producing items. There is a lot of interaction with other players. You can cast overland magic spells that you find/buy on them, such as fireballs to reduce their health, muckyfoot to make it so they can only move one space for a certain timeframe, poison, fear, etc.
We rented it on a whim and then later all bought copies. We were blown away by the scope of the game and brutality of its mechanics.

However, because these monsters are tough, you’ll need to defeat lesser ones, level up, gain money, buy equipment, stock on items, and so on. At the same time, watching the other players is essential; you can use items to slow them down/mess them up or even engage them in combat by landing on the same space. Combat is a two-way affair. First, each side picks a card to determine who acts first. This means each party has one turn to be on the offensive and another on the defensive. While attacking, there are four different skills, like Attack, Strike, and class-specific moves (Steal, Meditate). The moves are swapped for defensive maneuvers like Counter and Defend when the other character is ready to attack.
I absolutely love it. I have a Wii and I have that version of Dokapon.
And does defense play into dodging or magic defense as well? Many items also come with descriptions that leave you scratching your head asking what it's talking about. One can only suggest that these are likely issues with translation and less with the game itself. It's still funny as you get some unique references to other games. You seem some fun ideas at play. And if you have friends who are willing to spend countless hours going around in circles to land on the once space to get into the dungeon for the fifth time because they kept dying from a cheap death at the hands of a monster that destroys weapons with their unblockable attack. Then it's probably worth it.

We finally stopped playing at around midnight. This game is absolutely fantastic. Here’s the premise: You create a character, and choose one of three initial classes (warrior, mage or thief). All the players start at the center of the kingdom, and take turns spinning a spinner and moving the amount specified.

•: You lose a lot of money and/or items when you die. Alternatively, you can end up losing a piece of equipment, which is even more painful if said equipment is rare and powerful. And if you want to come back faster, you've got to fork over even more cash.

•: If someone with a bow Strikes and is Countered, the opponent catches an arrow and hurls it back at their would-be attacker. •: On Easy, this doesn't apply, and the AI is outright. On Hard, they know exactly what they're going to do 35 weeks from the current turn, and no amount of bad luck is going to affect them.

By attacking them, too. •: If someone turns Darkling near the endgame, they probably had no chance to win anyway, but they're in a good position to bomb the people in the lead and decide the final winner.
Dokapon Kingdom is not only incredibly fun and wholly original, but it has a strong hidden potential that makes me excited at the prospect of a sequel. On its own, Dokapon Kingdom is a great product. The multiplayer mechanics are all-inclusive, resulting in a truly interesting experience. It’s a co-operative/competitive party RPG, somewhat in the same vein as Mario Party, but mixed with the competition aspect of games like The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures and RPG elements reminiscent of Final Fantasy. You can spend lots of time simply on leveling characters, acquiring new equipment, maxing out job classes, learning new abilities, and simply moving across the board aside. Dokapon Kingdom features a huge game board to explore.
You can select any direction to go and can fight against foes, using weapons defeat them and earn points. The game revolves around a battle system, in which attack feature beating counter while the counter feature is beating strike, and then the feature of defending resisting the option of attack. There are different classes available such as Magician, Thief, and Warrior. Each character has its unique skills and abilities. As the game progress, it becomes challenging. With exciting gameplay, superb mechanics, and wonderful visuals, Dokapon Kingdom is the best game to play and enjoy.

And, not that kind. I mean rock-paper-scissors.
Players can choose which stats to upgrade upon gaining levels, and gain job levels, change jobs, or even unlock new ones. At the start, there are only three, but many more can be accessed. Characters can also unlock new skills and change their attacks, and even change their hairstyles and appearance. Also keep in mind that after defeating one of your fellow players, a few tempting offers come up: rob them (you can take their money, items, equipment, or even their towns!), prank them (put graffiti on their faces, change their names, shave their heads, you name it!), force bad items onto them,. Well, forgive them (but where’s the fun in that?). Players can unleash hell on the board by other means.
